The roots of our founding attorney, Jonathan W. McConnell, have greatly shaped our views on community involvement. Raised by two ordained ministers, Jon developed an inherent need to help others at a very young age. That need to help inspired him to become a defense attorney, vigorously protecting the rights of others. The death of his mother, Vickie McConnell, to a rare form of cancer further inspired Jon to make a positive difference in our community.
Jon is a Scottish Rite Mason and attorney for the Wichita Midian Shrine Temple. As a member of the Scottish Rite and as a temple attorney for the Shriners, he is involved in raising money to support each of their respective charities. Jon also recently gave a sizable donation to the Kansas Masonic Foundation’s Building Kansas campaign, which funds cancer research.
Jon is passionate about his involvement with the Midwest Innocence Project (MIP), a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the investigation, litigation and exoneration of the wrongfully convicted. The McConnell Law Firm recently had the honor of sponsoring an MIP fundraising event, Faces of Innocence.
The McConnell Law Firm also recently sponsored an Aveda catwalk event to benefit clean water efforts and Zoobilee, a fundraising event to benefit the Sedgwick County Zoo and animal conservation initiatives in the wild. In the past, Jon has raised money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Diabetes Association and American Collegiate Society for Adapted Athletics (ACSAA).
