One of the most well-known non-profit organizations, Rotary International, has a mission “provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.”

Founded in 1905 by an attorney in Chicago, Rotary eventually became international and now has 1.2 million members. The founding attorney of the McConnell Law Firm in Wichita, Kansas, Jonathan W. McConnell, is a member of the Rotary Club of East Wichita.

Within the organization, The Rotary Foundation is utilized to transform donations into service projects. McConnell has been recognized by The Rotary Foundation as a Paul Harris Fellow, which acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000.

“Donations to The Rotary Foundation truly make a difference,” said McConnell. “With the donations of members, The Rotary Foundation has wiped out 99.9 percent of all polio cases. Imagine what more we can accomplish!”
